Most importantly... the Thermomix does NOT heat by friction like the Vitamix. The Thermomix has a heating unit built in which is fully controllable and it constantly monitors the temp of the food in the bowl. It's understandable that you might want to compare it to a Vitamix but they are two completely different machines. Thermomix does blend, but it also does a LOT more, including actually cooking the food. That's (partly why) it's not called a blender, but more of a kitchen machine.
